Kylie Cosmetics can be a bit of conundrum. They sell out quickly, the website doesn’t post a ton of swatches on different skin types, and because there is no physical store, sampling products is out of the question. Also, there is a set in stone standard of absolutely no returns. So, how are you supposed to know what you like, what looks good on you, and what the differences are between her many different nude-tone liquid lipsticks?
…Instagram hashtags are basically the virtual way to “try on” Kylie’s products. I was sucked into the Kylie Cosmetics vortex back in the spring of 2016 because I have absolutely no self control when it comes to these sorts of things. I don’t regret the majority of my purchases. (Though Dulce K just does not look that good on me…it looked much lighter in online swatches).
Kylie has only ever made two mini liquid lip sets, and this is her second set ever. This set, including ever so tiny minis of Moon, Ginger, Kristen, Angel (Holiday 2016 exclusive), Love Bite, and Vixen (Holiday 2016 exclusive) is a great way to try a variety of her newer shades, as well as two of her exclusive holiday colors.
Here is my rundown of the kit (which is currently sold out Kylie’s website) but retails for $36
Just what do you mean by mini…
…Don’t be fooled…these mini mattes are seriously tiny. But despite their size, they are still able to pack the same scent, quality, and smoothness that Kylie Cosmetics liquid lips have come to be known for.
Is the quality the same as the full size?…
…I swatched the shades on my inner wrist and have noticed two things over the seven hours that I have continued to wear them; one, that the scent has lasted (it is a subtle sweetness that I really enjoy). And two, that the shades have not budged despite hand washing, running errands, and normal amounts of body heat/sweat when performing normal household tasks.
What about the shades…
…This collection includes a great range of everyday and more dramatic shades.
- Moon is unlike any color I currently own. It is like a purple-gray neutral.
- Ginger, Kristen and Angel are the ones I would call the MVPs. They’re your every day go-tos depending on what other colors you are wearing. I feel like these are the shades that will look good on everyone. And the fact that there are three people pleasers in this kit is super exciting to me.
- Love Bite is a dark plummy gray. Heavy on the plum but with the coolness of gray. Somehow it remains to be quite different from the almost black purple color of Kourt K. I think it is the most similar to Moon.
- Vixen is a super dark purple/plum with hints of red. It is your go-to dark holiday lip (rather than a bright red). A great option for cold weather seasons.
These colors are long lasting and Vixen is not as patchy as some of Kylie’s other dark liquid lips have been. Overall I am a fan of this kit, despite the small size of the minis. I plan to order full sizes of Kristen and Ginger. I would also want to order a full size of Angel but it is not currently available. Overall, I love this kit and am pleased with the pigmentation, color selection, and quality of the set.
Have you tried this kit or any of Kylie’s other liquid lips? What are your thoughts?
Remember, give lots of kisses when you’re wearing these shades as they are totally kiss and transfer proof!
xoxo
